HOUSTON – A recent increase along the border on both sides of the US-Mexico border has caused people in border states (Mostly Arizona,Texas,California) to call for funding for an increase in security along the border. Between 2007 and 2008,Violence has doubled along the border on both sides. In Texas, Houston Mayor Bill White (D) is also looking into the problem,as well as both Texas Senators Kay Bailey Hutchinson (R) and John Coryn (R)

A Mothers Against Illegal Aliens Representative has stated this issue is no longer an immigration problem, but a safety problem.
